Mildred Ruth Amick died on December 17th, 2005 at the home of her son Terry, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mildred was born on August 22, 1926, in Climax, Ohio the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Hedrick. She married her long time sweetheart William Clemens Amick in Biloxi, Mississippi on August 5, 1943. William preceded her in death on January 1, 1997.

The Amick's owned and operated Galion Nursing Home during the 1950's and 60's; the home was later named Atwood Manor. They also owned a farm in Mount Gilead, Ohio where they raised ten thousand chickens and five hundred pigs. It is said the Amick's collected nine thousand eggs a day.

Mildred instilled in her children anything is possible and she would always be there for support. She was a loving mother to her three sons and raised them with a sense of humor and a strong determination.



Mildred is survived by her sons Donald (Carolyn) Amick of Punta Gorda, Florida and Terry (Gaye) Amick of Charlevoix, Michigan; a daughter-in-law Carol Amick of Charlevoix, Michigan, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; four sisters Mary Ellen DeWitt of Galion, Ohio, Betty Runge, Rosaline Davis and Marie Foster all of Mount Gilead, Ohio; and two brothers Dale (Bud) Hedrick of Mount Gilead, Ohio and Roy Hedrick of Cardington, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred's eldest son Edward Amick preceded her in death earlier this year on June 9, 2005.
