Born July 2, 1929, in Quincy, Mary was a daughter of Russell S. and Ella F. Griffin Davis. She married Roger Gieker on May 8, 1950. She later married Frank E. Adrian, M.D., on Jan. 19, 1980. He died May 24, 1996.
Mary attended Logue School (a rural school in Adams County), Clayton High School and Blessing School of Nursing. She was employed as the office nurse for Dr. Frank Adrian in Clayton from 1959 until her retirement in 1996.
Mrs. Adrian volunteered for 25 years as an EMT and officer for the volunteer ambulance service. She was a member of the Clayton Legion Auxiliary, former board member for the Community for Christ Assistance Center and a volunteer for the Red Cross bloodmobile. She was a member of the Clayton Federated Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Lantz (Ron) of Clayton, and Eleanor Naught (John) of Clayton; two sons, John Gieker (JoAnn) of Beloit, Ohio, and David Gieker (Cathy) of Clayton; six stepchildren and their families, Emmy Moore, Frank A. Adrian, the Honorable Judge Robert K. Adrian, Nancy Smith, Mary Nunlist and Tom Adrian; and numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and three sisters, Catherine Perkins, Eleanor Jackson, and Hazel Davis.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, in the Clayton Federated Church by Pastor Charla Meyers. Burial will follow at South Side Cemetery in Clayton.
VISITATION: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton.
MEMORIALS: Clayton Federated Church, Clayton American Legion Auxiliary, or the Adams County Ambulance and EMS.
