CHILHOWIE, Va. Allen Dean Mathews, age 60, passed away on Saturday February 20, 2016. He was born in Maryland on August 24, 1955. He is also preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Mathews. Allen worked for over 18 years at Bristol Compressors. He enjoyed spending his free time hunting, and working on cars. He will be remembered as being a " Jack of all trades". Survivors include his son, Wesley Mathews of Chilhowie; his mother, Betty Greer Mathews of Chilhowie; step children, Courtney Norton and husband, Robert of Ill., and Amber Easterly of N.Mex.; brothers and sister, Eddie Mathews and wife, Ann of Md., Terri Lynn Callahan of Pa., and Craig Mathews and wife, Elizabeth of Chilhowie; step grandchildren, Zachary Clark, and Tyler and Elizabeth Norton, several nieces and nephews, and other loving family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016, from the Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with Pastor Paul Shallenburg officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurel Valley Cemetery in Konnarock. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral chapel.
