"The Emporia gazette" 7 Jan 1914, Pg 1, Col 7. Died of Pneumonia. Mrs. Heacock [Louisa A. Marker] was one of the oldest residents and most highly respected woman in the community, and her death comes as a shock to her many friends.

"MRS. J. H. HEACOCK DEAD. [Louisa A. Marker]
.. Mrs. J. H. [ James Houston] Heacock died at her home Tuesday night. She had not been well for several months. Death was caused by hemorrhage of the stomach.
.. The deceased was born in Delaware Co., Pa, March 11, 1845 and was married to Mr. Heacock March 10, 1864 [Philadelphia]. Mr. Heacock was a merchant. The couple resided in Pennsylvania until 1877 when they moved to Kansas. They have lived in, or near, Olpe ever since then. They and their children lived on the Martin Rice place which they owned until Mr. Heacock became postmaster when they moved to town.
.. The deceased leaves her husband, J. H. Heacock, two daughters, Mrs. E.K. [Ella] Bugbee and Mrs. John [Lizzie] Young of Phenis Creek, and two sons, Walter [Walton] Heacock of New York and Edgar Heacock of Montana. Two daughters, Mrs. Geo. [Dollie/Margaret] Roberts and Mrs. [Reba/Rebecca] Barb are dead."
.. The funeral will be held at the Olpe M. E. Church, Sunday afternoon [6 Jan], at one o'clock. Interment will be made in Pleasant Ridge cemetery a mile west of Olpe."
