Ruth Y. (Hornberger) Adams, 89, of Rural Valley, formerly of Tidal, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 at her daughter, Vikki and Joe Boyer’s home. She was born Oct. 1, 1926 in Tidal to Perry and Besse (Helm) Hornberger. Mrs. Adams was a retired telephone operator for Tidal Telephone Co. and was retired from Big River Manufacturing. A member of the Tidal Presbyterian Church, she also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing games on her tablet, playing games with family and friends, painting, crocheting, riding in Bobbi’s buggy. She loved laughing and having fun with her family. She was a full time “MeMe” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the Lord so very much. For her most of her life, she was a resident of her community. Survivors include daughters, Vikki (Joe) Boyer of Rural Valley and Bobbi (Terry) Marshall of Tidal; grandson, Shawn (Marcia) Boyer of Kittanning, grandson, Kyle Boyer of Ford City, grandson, Kristopher (Jody) Boyer of Rural Valley, granddaughter, Danyelle Boyer of Rural Valley, grandson, Cody Marshall and Brittany Llewellyn of Seminole, grandson, Tyler Marshall and Sabra Blair of Tidal; greatgrandchildren, Zakk Boyer, Raymond Boyer, Luke Boyer, Alazae Marshall, Gregory Boyer, and Naomi Boyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John G. Adams, whom she married Nov. 11, 1943; sisters, Mary Shumaker Wadding, Thelma “Sonnie” Carnahan; brothers, William “Bill” Hornberger, Bernard “Pete” Hornberger; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Timothy Lewis and the Rev. Sarah Heppenstall officiating. Interment will be in the Tidal Union Cemetery.
