Born in Wallingford, Conn., a son of the late Edward E. H. and Ruby Caroline (Tuttle) Browning, he lived in South Kingstown for many years.
Mr. Browning was a member of the Peace Dale Congregational Church. He was a 50-year member of the Narragansett Grange. He was a member of Hope Lodge 25 AF & AM. He was a member of the AARP and a board member of Farm Production Credit Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, Barry H. Browning of Hickory, N.C.; a daughter, Marilyn T. Browning of Grayslake, Ill., and a grandson. He was the father of the late L. Scott Browning Jr.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Peace Dale Congregational Church, Columbia Street. Burial will be in New Fernwood Cemetery in Kingston.
