Barbara Ann Brown was born October 27, 1952 in Sunflower County, MS to the Late
Mr. Joe Lee Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Darthola Lee Brown Allen. She was the youngest of four children born to this union. She was a woman of faith and fortitude until her transition to her eternal home on Saturday, January 29, 2016.

Barbara grew up in Sunflower County, MS where she was raised by her parents who
taught her the value of faith, family, concern for others, hard work and education.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active church member of Mt. Carmel
in Indianola, where she was active in many youth groups. As an adult she continued
her faithful services at Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active
member for over 35 years. Barbara loved to sing and was an active member of the choir.
She also served faithfully on the hospitality committee where she was a welcomed smile
during special events where meals were served.

She received her elementary and secondary education in the Sunflower County Public
School System. She graduated from Gentry High School in 1970, where she was an
active member of the band and many other social organizations. She continued her
education at Mississippi Valley State University where she studied business. For many years she was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture. She transitioned to the state branch of the Yazoo-Mississippi Water Management District (YMD) in Stoneville, MS where she served as a Water Permit Manager for 25 years until her sudden death.
