Gold Star Mother
Detroit's oldest Gold Star Mother, Mrs. Sabroan Marlatt, 84, died Wednesday at her home, 8130 E. Palmer.
She was born in Ontario and had lived in Detroit 51 years. Before that she lived 12 years in Port Huron. She lost a son, Lt. George E. Marlatt, in World War I. During that war she knitted an afghan which was presented to the first patient in the Veterans Hospital at Dearborn.
Surviving are three sons, Oliver, Albert and Truman; four daughters, Mrs. Cora Muhme, Mrs. Grace Barnes, Mrs. Doris Fuhrmann and Wilma Marlatt; a brother, Wesley Rice; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Detroit Bible Temple. The body will be at the Gitre Funeral Home until the services. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
