Fay Kirkwood, 97, a homemaker, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, in Fort Worth.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Fay Kirkwood was born Feb. 22, 1900, in Olney. She enjoyed fame as a noted rodeo performer in Gene Autry Rodeos, leading parades and grand entries as a flag bearer and horseback quadrille. She produced some of the first all cowgirl rodeos in the 1940s during World War II as entertainment for the military. She performed at many rodeos and fairs with her famous horse, "Crown Jewel," doing European dressage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. "Pappy" Kirkwood, in 1983.
Survivors: Son, Pat Kirkwood of Granbury; and grandson, Cody Kirkwood of Fort Worth.
