Kernersville - Betty Newman Collins, 51, passed away October 3, 2015. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Wednesday October 7, 2015 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. A native of Forsyth County, Betty was the daughter of the late Peggy Irene Haynes and Roy Otis Newman. She was a graduate of Parkland High School in Winston-Salem. She had worked as a Nurse's Aide until she was disabled. Survivors include her loving husband of 28 years Richard Collins of the home; children David Collins of Blacksburg, VA, Amy Collins of Winston-Salem, Mary Collins of Winston-Salem, and Tyler Collins of Winston-Salem; grandson Dylan Neumeyer; sisters Alice Day, Lorraine Rashwan, and Irene Fine; brothers William Newman, and Larry Newman; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will visit with friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103.
