Annie Ruth Hobbs

Mrs. Annie Ruth Hobbs, 83 of Quitman was called home to our Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

She was born April 21, 1932 in Pavo, GA., she was the youngest daughter of Henry & Beulah Scott.

She recently resided at the Presbyterian Home Quitman. Mrs. Hobbs was a beloved wife, devoted mother and grandmother, a skilled seamstress and homemaker. She retired from Quitman Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Hobbs was a founding member of Northside Baptist Church of Quitman and had a strong relationship with the Lord. Through the years she made a loving home for her family while loving and nurturing all of her children and adoring her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Often friends and family would come to visit to enjoy a cold glass of her sweet tea, a slice of her pound cake and her warm smile. She was a hard worker, mannerly and kind-hearted and devoted her life to her family.

She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her four daughters, Barbara (Charlie) Williamson of Quitman; Sarah Thornton of Quitman, Kathy (Dobby) Cothern of Waycross, and Brenda (Patrick) Beasley of Valdosta; eleven grandchildren, Karen Cooper (Mike) Neumann of Houston, Tx., Jill W. (Tom) McCracken of Raleigh, N.C., Wesley (Elizabeth) Williamson of Crestview, FL., Bart (Jackie) Williamson of Cary, N.C., Amanda (Paul) Manning of Quitman, Buck Poucher, Serena Griffiths of Hahira, Casey C. (Curtis) Akridge of Berlin, Andrea Chandler, Tullis Beasley (fiance, Jamie Mauldin) of Lexington, VA., and Daryn Beasley of Valdosta; 21 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hobbs was preceded in death by her parents; husband, France R. Hobbs in 2003; her son, Robert G. Cooper; grandson, Charles "Sonny" Williamson, and seven brother & sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Quitman with Rev. Larry Harris and Rev. Wesley Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Morrison Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home.
