James "Jim" L. Anderson, 67

Jim was born on July 23, 1948 in Sioux City, IA, to Lloyd and Jenette (Speckman) Anderson.
He graduated from Ponca High School and attended Dana College at Blair, NE and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD on baseball scholarships.
He received his Associate's Degree from Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City, IA.
Jim married Maureen Persinger on August 19, 1978 (both Maureen and Jim's dad's birthdate) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE. They were blessed with 3 sons and their wives, and 5 grandchildren.
Jim worked at Target, Lowe's and various other places. He retired after working for Target for twenty years in February 2004.
He was an assistant baseball coach for his son, Josh's team and was on the Highland Oaks Golf Course Board of Directors in Ponca. Jim enjoyed baseball, golfing, bowling, fishing and hunting.
James "Jim" L. Anderson, 67, of Ponca, NE passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at his residence while surrounded by his family after a short battle with lung cancer.
Left with memories are his wife, children and spouses, grandchildren, two brothers and their wives, extended family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Jenette Anderson; a brother, Arlen Anderson; in-laws, Mike and Melva Persinger; and a niece, Zoi.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, NE with Rev. Peter Speiser officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the church.
