Edward Reginald Bate, a Solicitor, of 14, Middle Gardiner Street, Dublin, son of Henry Alexander Bate, a Solicitor, married Charlotte Frederica Bell, of 34, Nelson Street, Dublin, daughter of Rev. Charles Lucas Bell, a Clerk in Holy Orders, at St. George's Church [C of I], Temple Street, Dublin, on 7 June 1879.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Latham C. Warren.
The witnesses were William Rodney Collum and Charles Edward Bell.

Reginald Bate was born on 16 October 1880, at 24, Ormond Road, Rathmines.
Edith Florence Bate was born on 11 April 1882, at 39, Belgrave Square, Rathmines.
Edwin Beresford Bate was born on 25 January 1884, at 39, Belgrave Square, Rathmines.


In the 1911 census, the Bate family were living at 2, Eden Road, Kingstown [now Dun Laoghaire], Co. Dublin.

present were,
Edward Reginald Bate, aged 55, a Solicitor in the Post Office, married, born in City of Dublin.
Charlotte Frederica, his wife, aged 53, married, born in County Fermanagh.
They had been married 31 years and had 4 children, all still living.

Alfred Francis Bate, son, aged 18, an Undergraduate Student of Law at TCD, single, born in County Dublin.

a Nurse and 2 domestic Servants were also present.

It would appear that in 1911, Charlotte was ill and required a fulltime nurse.


In the 1901 census, the bate family were lkiving at 2, Eden Road. Charlotte was said to have been born in Enniskillen.
