Berdella May Evans, 97, of Harrison City, went to Heaven to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016. May, as she was known to her friends, was born on May 1, 1918, in Lycippus, the youngest daughter of Silas and Margaret (Bloom) Clites. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, James, Samuel and Freeman Clites; sisters, Sarah (Clites) Johnson and Mildred (Clites) Swank; and former husbands. She is survived by her children, Clarence M. Nicholson and wife, Delorise, of Collegeville, Robert S. Nesbit and wife, Nga, of Berlin, Pa., and Kenneth Bloom and wife, Joan, of Irwin; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. During the Great Depression, she watched children while their parents in the Norvelt area worked on WPA projects. From 1943 to 1945, she was employed at Acme Die Munitions plant in Latrobe and received a commendation letter for her support of World War II. After she moved to Harrison City in the mid-50s, she was a clerk for Phillips Market and an employee of Manor Valley Country Club. May coordinated the Meals on Wheels driver assignment for many years, was an auxiliary member of a local VFW post, member of the former Jeannette O.E.S., member of Community United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and was past president of the area Senior Citizens group. Most will always remember how she faithfully attended Sunday services, helped out whenever needed, and will also be remembered for the numerous donations of her great coconut creme pies during Lent for her friends. Her immediate family and grandchildren are grateful for all the help of her personal friends and church members throughout her life. She shall be greatly missed.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at LINDSAY-JOBE FUNERAL HOME INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City, 724-744-2721, where an Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Community United Methodist Church, with the Rev.
