Russell A. Abel, 72, formerly of Franklin, died in Clarion Medical Services at 9:15 pm Friday. He was born in Franklin May 14, 1911, son of George W. and Leuldah Simpson Abel.
He was self-employed as a carpet installer for many years.
Surviving are a son, Gary Abel, of Naperville, IL; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Barnicle of Cooperstown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Six sisters are deceased.
Services will be at 1:30 pm Monday at Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home with Rev. William A. Gibson Jr., pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
