The youngest of nine children; born to the union of Anne Marie and Philip Paul Breen on January 15, 1939 and born into the eternal kingdom on February 29, 2016.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers; Paul Breen, Sr., sister-in-law Betty Breen, William Breen, Sr., and Thomas Breen, Sr., sister Mary Jo Beavin and brother-in-law Bill Beavin, Niece; Susan Beavin and nephew; Paul Beavin, Jr.

He is survived by two sisters; two sisters-in-law; two brothers; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Fr. Breen devoted his life to the Catholic Church and served God's people in many beautiful ways. He was an advocate for the Recovering Community. He also served as the Chaplain for the Ladies of Charity for many years and was an honoree at the Annual Ladies of Charity Gala in October of 2015. In his honor, a Japanese Maple Tree was planted in Centennial Park.

Fr. Breen was educated by the Sisters of Mercy at Christ the King School and was so appreciative of the Sisters that in the Year of 2013 he paid Tribute to the Sisters of Mercy by dedicating the front wall of Saint Ann School hallway to them.

He was a graduate of Father Ryan High School, class of 1957. In addition, he studied at St. Bernard Seminary, St. Bernard Alabama, and St. Mary's, Baltimore, Maryland. He was ordained on May 22, 1965, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, Nashville, by Bishop Joseph A. Durick.

He was a professor at Father Ryan High School; Assistant Pastor, St Joseph Parish, Memphis; Professor at Catholic High School for Boys, Professor at Bishop Byrne High School, Memphis; Associate Pastor, St. Joseph Parish, Memphis; Memphis Area Director for C.C.D.; Associate Pastor, Sacred Heart Parish, Memphis; Diocesan Director of the C.C.D.; Associate Pastor, Saint Ann Church, Nashville; Pastor, St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Tullahoma; State Chaplin to Tennessee State Council Knights of Columbus; Pastor, St. Jude Parish, Chattanooga; Episcopal Vicar, Chattanooga Deanery; Pastor, Saint Ann Church, Nashville. He also served on the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consulters; Vicar for Catholic Charities, Chaplin for Ladies of Charity, Nashville; Chaplin for Knight of Columbus Council #11925, Saint Ann Parish and retired from Saint Ann Catholic Church as Pastor for 25 Years on July 31, 2015.
