He was born May 8, 1932 in Alderbranch, Texas to Robert T. Melton and Lillie Mae Henderson Melton.
Mr. Melton attended Fields Chapel United Methodist Church. He was an U.S. Army veteran, and had been a clerk for Union Pacific Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Adeline Vaughn, and Leta Manning.
Mr. Melton is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Dressell) Melton; daughters, Angelia Melton, Toni Melton, and Debbie Stewart and husband Tommy; sisters, Floy Gallion, and Sarah Martin; brothers, Louie Melton, and Johnie Loyd Melton; two grandchildren, Colt Handorf, and Cheyenne Handorf.
