Gladys Fern Kollwitz, age 89 passed away March 2, 2016 at her home in rural Bloomer. She was born on September 19, 1926 in the town of Meadowbrook Wisconsin to Charles and Beulah (Kern) Calkins. She married Anthony Kollwitz on December 20, 1947 in Elk Mound and later divorced. She worked at Presto and Nelson Filter for many years. Gladys enjoyed being outside, watching the hummingbirds, mowing the lawn, gardening and raising flowers. She could always be found watching old westerns or horsing around with her grandchildren.

She is survived her sons: Mark (Lisa), Tim and Dan Kollwitz all of New Auburn; daughters: Cheryl Schultz of Birchwood, Julie Kollwitz of Chippewa Falls, Patricia Nehring of Chippewa Falls, Emily (Phillip) Jones of Chippewa Falls; brother: Clyde (Mary) Calkins of Island Lake; 16 grandchildren; numerous grand and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Beulah Calkins, son: Allen Kollwitz, great grandchildren: Payton Richardson and Aundray Kollwitz; brothers: Bobby, Floyd, Darrell, Leonard and infants brothers: Charles Jr. and George Calkins; sisters: Doris Kozel, Mary Dahl, Patsy Bales, Dorothy Miller and Alice Schroeder.
