Mrs. Hilma Pierce Griffin, 96, of Durham, died on Thursday, January 19, 2012.Mrs. Griffin was born in Iredell County on June 10, 1915. She taught school in Chatham County for five years and Durham City Schools for 15 years before becoming Librarian for the Durham City Schools for 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Friendly Womens Bible Class. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Ruth Griffin Weaver.She is survived by her husband of 69 years, William “Lacy” Griffin.
