Trooper 1st Class James H. Savage, 42, of Harwinton,Connecticut died on January 22,1986 of injuries suffered when a vehicle hit him as he stood along Route 8 for a traffic stop. James Savage,was the 14th Connecticut trooper killed in the line of duty.

Trooper Savage entered into the Academy in February 1968 and was first assigned to Troop L. He was transferred to Troop H in December 1971 and had more than his share of experiences on the interstate when he was transferred to the Radar Squad. His career revolved around traffic enforcement.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie and their five children.
He was the son of Henry J. F. Savage and Margaret F. Savage. He attended St. Mary's School, Nathan Hale Junior High School, and St. Thomas Aquinas High School, all in New Britain, and Northwestern Community College, Winsted.
Besides his wife, children and parents, he is survived by his sister Mrs. Margaret M. Demingware and grandfather Harry J. J. Savage, both of New Britain.
