Nauman, Joseph G.- age 88 of Kettering, OH, widower of Mary O. Nauman, father of nine children, 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. George (Judy) of Omaha, NE, Michael (Gretchen) of Englewood, Mary Lou Nauman (David Burnsides) of Columbus, Nancy Cotterman(Adam Sneary) of Columbus, Carol (Mark Greathouse) of Centerville, Tim (Lisa) of Cleveland, Patti (Steve Hawkins) of Maineville, Billy (deceased) and Chrissy (Phil Sever) of Westfield, IN. Grandchildren David, Beth, Sara, Dan, Emily, Michael, Callie, Ryan, Jason, Christopher, Eric, Alexandra, McKenna, Matthew, Joe, Craig, Megan, Macy, Chase, Grant, Will, Zoe, Quinn and J.D. Great grandchildren Cole, Emily, Nina, Carmen, Isla, Elora, Margot, Claire, Owen, Sebastian, Phineas, Oliver and Lucas. Brother of Jeanette (Chuck) Van De Motter and Peggy (Tom) Corrigan of Cleveland, OH. Joe was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret Nauman of Cleveland, OH. He was born in Cleveland, OH and graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, University of Notre Dame in 1949 with a degree in mechanical engineering and a J.D. from Georgetown University law school in 1953. Joe was a member of the Notre Dame marching band and had many great experiences with the band, including meeting Mary O'Donnell in Washington, DC who would become his wife on July 28, 1951. After working at the Patent Office in Washington, D.C. while studying to be a patent attorney, he moved his family to Dayton, OH in 1953 to join the law firm of Marechal, Biebel, French & Bugg. Joe became a partner and the firm later became Biebel, French and Nauman. He also served as an adjunct professor at UD Law School. After leaving the firm, Joe continued practicing patent law –eventually practicing for a combined total of over 60 years. Joe was a member of the Dayton Rotary Club and Dayton Engineer's Club of which he was a president. Joe and Mary were very supportive of the art community of Dayton. He served as a president of the Opera Guild. Joe was a founding member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Kettering and was a longtime member of the choir. He was a member of the De Minimis Cats jazz band and the Kettering Civic Band, where he enjoyed playing his saxophones. Joe also sang in the choirs at Holy Angels and St. Albert the Great. Joe was ever the learner, an intelligent man. Joe was a good neighbor and friend to all. He was a dedicated, loyal, generous, loving man, proud of his family as evidenced by signing notes as "The Patriarch". Visitation Friday, March 11 from 4-7 pm at Tobias Funeral Home, Far Hills Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, March 12 at 10:30am at Holy Angels Church. Final place of rest Calvary Cemetery.
