Alma E. Edwards passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2016, in Merrill at the home of her wonderful caregiver, Marygrace Snook, at the age of 94.

She was born in Camp Pringle, Rapide Parish, La., on Sept. 2, 1921, to Earl Sloan and Ollie (Townley) Sloan. She graduated from Columbia High School in Columbia, La., where she was a star basketball player on a two-time state championship team.

In 1941, she married Marion Seay and relocated to Klamath Falls to start a new life in prosperous Oregon. In 1961, she attended beauty school and had a thriving hair stylist business for the next 20 years in Klamath Falls.

In 1982, she married Floyd Edwards of Klamath Falls. They had a very happy life and lived for a number of years in Nevada, where they spent time traveling in their motor home.

Among her many accomplishments was her involvement in the Order of Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron of the Aloha Chapter in Klamath Falls. She was also the head cook for Logging Camp 6, the Shasta Dam Project and Tulana Farm. Alma was a member of Merrill Baptist Church and participated in missions and church plantings.

Alma is survived by her nephew, his wife of Klamath Falls; grandnephews, of Tyler, Texas, and of Fairfield, Va.; four great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; step-daughter, of Central Point; step-son, of Eagle Point; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Inez Allred; her brother, Andy Sloan; and her husbands, Marion Seay and Floyd Edwards.
