Swedish matriarch. Mrs. Carl Johan Andersson. Amanda was the eldest of the five daughters of Carl and Brita Mattsson of the Kalles farm, village of Tjärna, municipal Borlänge, province of Dalecarlia. After marrying Carl Johan, who was a farmhand working for her father, she remained with him at Kalles and they had their eleven children there. Besides being a hardworking housewife, farm housekeeper and mother, Amanda had a great interest in the family and was one of the most appreciated and involved tellers of stories about her ancestors and other relatives. Her stories were the main inspiration that led a nephew to write a book, after her death, about the family, which in turn has led to regular family reunions being held for the last 40 years. Amanda, like many of the other members of her immediate family, lived a long life and died in 1957 at the age of 89.
