He came to Bloomington, Illinois as a young man and worked in the Chicago & Alton Railroad shops for a number of years, after which he was engaged in farming and stock raising.
He is survived by his son Charles Beam of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Miss Grace Beam of Bloomington, Illinois; and two brothers, Charles Beam and Frank Beam of Logansport, Indiana.
