ABBOTT, Shirley J. – Of Grand Blanc, age 76, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Gary Koenigsknecht officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Shirley was born in Mt. Morris, Michigan on January 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Glen and Grace Wise, and was a resident of the Flint area all of her life.
She married Harry "Jerry" Abbott on October 12, 1972 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mrs. Abbott was employed by Art Van Furniture for 23 years, retiring in December 2000.
Surviving are her children, Patrick and wife Diane Abbott of Gladwin, Gerald Abbott of New Jersey, Yvonne and husband Lloyd Wade of Arkansas, Julie and husband Kevin DeJonge of Nunica, MI, Mary Lynn and husband Gary Price of Wilmington, NC; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Towns of Flushing; several nieces and nephews;special people to Shirley, Debby Richards and Sandra “Sam” Carter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on February 6,2016; sister, Harriett “Pat” Wise; brother, Robert Wise and daughter-in-law, Alice Abbott.
