Robert E. "Bob" Rogers, 66, of Denton and formerly of Big Spring, lost his long battle with heart disease on Monday, December 8, 2003.

Born in Gail, Texas on February 14, 1937 to John Tillman and Laverne (Clanton) Rogers, he married Deanna Elliott on February 15, 1956 in Colorado City, Texas.

Bob attended Howard College and Midland College.

After 37 years of employment as production manager, he retired September 4, 1992 from the Big Spring Herald.

He served as a staff sergeant in the United States Army National Guard and the United States Army.

He coached little league and was a member of the Grapevine Heritage Woodcarvers Club.

As an avid golfer, he played in many tournaments with his longtime buddy, Jackie Touchstone.

He was a member of the Highland Baptist Church and the Adult III Sunday School Class in Denton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Jean Yates.

Survivors include his wife, Deanna of Denton; one son, Michael Tillman Rogers of Irving; one daughter and her husband, Robbi Dianne Crow and Dewayn of Denton; one granddaughter and her husband, Shannon Dianne Kidd and Scott of Denton; three great grandchildren, Taylor, Kailey and Trenton Kidd of Denton; one brother and his wife, James T. Rogers and Shirley of Corunna, Michigan; one sister, JoAnn Hughes of Gilmer; his stepfather-in-law and his wife, Don and Janice Yates of Weatherford; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Sovoy Kay of El Paso; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Phil and Cookie Elliott of Big Spring; and several uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, December 11, 2003, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Eddie Schafer, pastor of the Highland Baptist Church of Denton, and the Rev. Jess Colegrove of Big Spring, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 PM to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Touchstone, Jeff Alexander, Bob Hecker, Tom Mills, Nile Cole, Rubin Reavis, Ellis Britton, and Bob Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will include Sandra Green, Joe Pickle, Lewis Chandler, Donald Dooley, Jerry McCormick, Bob Hardaway, and Chuck Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, 3205 W. Cuthbert, Ste A-8, Midland, Texas 79701.
