Born in New Brockton, Alabama to Norman Wiley and Clennie Melvin Clark Snellgrove as one of ten children. Left to join the Air Force where he met his future wife, "Jeannie" Lempart, a lady of Polish descent. They served for several years and then settled down in Gary, Indiana where they raised five children: Patricia, David, Cathy, Jane, and Ruth.
Horace was employed by Gary Works in the power and fuel department. He was a WWII veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 454 of New Chicago and Post 214 of Glen Park.
He drowned when a sudden storm came up while he was on a fishing trip with his son, David. He was survived by his mother, Clennie, his wife, Jeannie, his five children and three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
