A.D. Adams, age 90, of Buchanan, Michigan passed away March 2, 2016, in Byron Center, Michigan.

A service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, March 11, at 10:00 am at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan. A visitation will be on Thursday, March 10, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Following the funeral burial will take place at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles, Michigan, with Military Honors being provided by American Legion Post 51 and the U.S. Navy Honors Team. Following the burial there will be a luncheon served at the Buchanan American Legion.

A.D. was born May 2, 1925 in Stamford, Texas to Edgar and Nora (Utley) Adams. As a youngster he moved with his family to Buchanan where he was a notable athlete on the football field. At age 17 A.D. joined the U.S. Navy and fought in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After the war he found the love of his life, Jane Rotzien, and they were married on October 26, 1946.

A.D. was also a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion where he held several different offices. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and most of all watching the Detroit Tigers baseball and MSU football games. A.D. was very proud of his four grandchildren, Lance Adams, Amanda (Ryan) Wilmering (Adams), Jonathan Kish and Kristen Kish and his 3 great-grandchildren, Reagan, Claire, and Caroline Wilmering. They all brought a smile to his face during each visit.

A.D. is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Dawn) Adams and his daughter, Judy (Michael) Kish. Also surviving are his brothers, Ed Speckine and Chuck Speckine. Preceding him in death were his wife Jane, his parents, and siblings James Adams, Lonnie Adams, Lee Frank Speckine, Billy Don Speckine, Mary Koroch, Marie Beatty, and Pat Zelasko.
