John Thomas Cuddy was born on August 26, 1882 in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of James Cuddy (who died before Oct 1903) and Mary Ann (Murphy) Cuddy (1857-1903).

He was married 1st before September 1918 to Lillie Pearl Smitha (1893-1938), the daughter of William A Smitha (1849–1935) and his wife Georgia "Anna" (Owens) Smitha (1862–1933). He was married 2nd on August 24, 1939 to Inez Tyler (ca 1905- ).

A member of Buchanan Street Methodist Church and an engineer at Nashville Terminals for about 35 years, John was living at 1920 14th Avenue North. He was retired, 67 years old and married when he died on October 10, 1949 of bronchopneumonia at Davidson County Psychiatric Hospital where he had been for just over 11 months.

He was survived by his widow Inez.

Funeral Services were held on October 12th at Cosmopolitan Funeral Home, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
