He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights Of Columbus both of Scott City, Kansas, Knights Of Columbus Colombian Squires, Boy Scouts Of America, VFW of Grinnell, Kansas. Merlin was a Desert Storm Veteran serving in the Army National Guard for 32 years before retiring. Merlin enjoyed pheasant hunting, auto racing, high school wrestling, travel, making people laugh and spending time with family.
On May 29, 1970 he married Jeanne Elizabeth Schwarz in Angelus, Kansas. She survives.
Survivors include his Wife - Jeanne Peter of Las Vegas, Nevada, One Son - Troy Peter of Las Vegas, Nevada, Three Brothers - Vernon & Marilyn Peter of Castle Rock, Colorado, Toby & Debbie Peter of Casper, Wyoming, Dennis & Julie Peter of Arvada, Colorado, Two Sisters - Donna & Loren Schmidtberger of Colby, Kansas, Linda French of Arvada, Colorado, Numerous Nieces & Nephews, Grand Nieces & Grand Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents.
Memorial Services will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 with Fr. Bernard Felix presiding.
Memorials may be given to the Merlin Peter Memorial Fund % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be in the Scott County Cemetery Scott City, Kansas.
