James C. Abbott, Jr., 71, of Lakewood passed away on Sunday, April 12 at his residence. A memorial tribute will be celebrated at a later time. Jim Abbott was born on May 27, 1937 in Corpus Christi, TX, to James C. Abbott and Ruby Howell Abbott. He is survived by his sisters, Elaine Van Avery and Jane Abbott-Kirk, his brother, William B. Abbott, his nephew, David Charles Van Avery, and his niece, Giulia Robin Van Avery. Jim graduated from Rice University and attended the Colorado School of Mines. He was an officer in the US. Navy. Jim was in real estate for many years and more recently was employed by Medved Autoplex. Active in politics, he served as mayor of Georgetown and president of the State Young Republicans.
