Residence Botetourt County.
Enlisted on 9/30/1863 at Dublin, VA., he was mustered into Company K, 60th Virginia Infantry as a Private.
Present on all Rolls until POW 9/19/1864 in 3rd Battle of Winchester, VA.; confined 9/24/1864 Point Lookout, MD.; Paroled there 1/17/1865; exchanged, present on 1/24/1865 Roll at Camp Lee, Richmond, VA.
Finished the war as a Private in "Price's" Company, Burt's Virginia Local Defense Infantry.

In March 1918 he applied for a total disability Confederate Veteran Pension for which he was approved.

The 60th Virginia Infantry Regiment [also called 3rd Regient, Wise Legion] was organized in August, 1861. The unit served in Field's, McCausland's, and T. Smith's Brigade. It fought in the Seven Days' Battles and reported 31 killed and 173 wounded. Later it was attached to the Department of Western Virginia and East Tennessee and participated in numerous conflicts including the fight at Piedmont. The 60th took part in Early's operations in the Shenandoah Valley and fought its last battle at Waynesborough. During mid-April, 1865, it disbanded.
