Edmond "Eddie" Michael McAuliffe passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 7, 2016.

Eddie was born in Merrill, Ore., on Dec. 7, 1934, to Dan and Janie McAuliffe.

He graduated from Malin High School in 1953 and attended Oregon Technical Institute before marrying Barbara Thelma Salyers on Jan. 22, 1955. He then began his lifelong career of farming, raising potatoes, hay and grain, which continued to be his passion even in retirement.

Eddie was preceded in death by his father and mother; wife; Barbara; brother, Cornelius McAuliffe; and sister, Ellen Smalley.

He is survived by his two sisters, Mary and Janice; his son and daughter-in-law, Con and Shirley McAuliffe; his daughter, Kathy Kirby; and his youngest son, Michael McAuliffe. He took great pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Julie Ostrom, her husband Alex, and their sons Makalu and Colin; Megan Pahl, her husband Joe, and their daughters Kailee and Adelyn; Brad Kirby; Amanda Kirby; and Hannah and Michaela McAuliffe. Eddie will be missed by his family and many lifelong friends.
