Francis Burke Bayne was the daughter of William Burke and Elizabeth (Sanders) Burke. She was the wife of Alford Day Bayne and the mother of daughters Missouri Bayne, Lula Bayne, Lizzie Bayne, Alfie Phereby McGee, Addie Defibaugh, Gussie Price, Olive ("Ollie") Daves and son F. H. Bayne.
In 1887, following the death of her husband, Francis and her children moved to Canadian, Hemphill County, Texas from Lafayette, Chambers County, Alabama. They joined some of their relatives who had moved to Texas from Clark County, Arkansas. Those relatives were her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Burke Browning Stegall and John Stegall and their children.
Francis' sister Mary Burke Browning-Stegall died in 1903, as well as Francis' daughter Addie Bayne Defibaugh. In 1904 Francis moved to Mineral Wells. That same year her granddaughter, Pearl McGee, died from typhoid fever in Mineral Wells. Francis died in Mineral Wells 9 years later at the age of 79. Her grave is not listed in the registry of Elmwood Cemetery that was published in 1973, but her grave is believed to be in this cemetery, as well as her granddaughter Pearl McGee's grave.
One of Francis' son-in-laws, James Henry McGee, was the first sheriff of Hansford County, Texas. Francis' nephew, James Nathan Browning, served as State Representative of Texas from 1882-1890 and as Lieutenant Governor of Texas from 1898 to 1903.
