LTC(Ret) Frank C. Schofield, US Army, age 92 of Griffin, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday March 9, 2016 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mr. Schofield was born on April 28, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mae Schofield; daughter, Bonnie Hallman; brother, Ray Schofield. Drafted into the US Army in 1943, Mr. Schofield served his country for 30 years, serving in World War II and Vietnam. Colonel Schofield's last military assignment was as Professor of Military Science, at the Gordon Military College. He retired from active duty July 31, 1972 and went to work August 1, 1972 for Greenway-Robinson CPA firm here in Griffin. Mr. Schofield began working for the City of Griffin on January 1, 1976, as Comptroller. He was appointed City Manager of the City of Griffin on May 1, 1982 where he worked until he retired on February 23, 1990. Mr. Schofield was a member of First Baptist Church Griffin, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Griffin Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Schofield; daughter, Chantel Carter; son, Bruce Schofield; brother-in-law, George Barnes (Lucinda); sister-in-law Lucinda Fourhman (John); several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Frank Schofield will be on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from noon until 2PM at First Baptist Church parlor. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be conducted in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Dr. Bill Hardee and Dr. Brian McCartney will officiate. Interment will follow in the veteran's section of Oak Hill Cemetery, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family
