George Hyskill Kahle was a Collier and built one of first coke ovens in Clarion Co. His name is often cited as George Hyskell Kahle by some, as there is some disagreement among genealogy hobbyists about the correct way to spell his mother's maiden name. (I believe HYSKILL is correct). George Kahle was also in the oil business, teaming business, and farmed. He and his wife, Matilda Shiffer, had 14 children. Ten are known to have survived childhood. Three definitely died during childhood. George Kahle died at Frampton, Clarion County, PA. Frampton is not included in the list of Clarion cities and towns.

Note that the photograph of George Kahle at right is from a copy of the original which was given to me by a great-Uncle by the name of Don Kahle. With Uncle Don's consent, I contributed the photograph for publication in the two-volume books called "Weiser Families in America," edited by Frederick S. Weiser and published in about 1995. Uncle Don would be happy to know that many people are enjoying the effort he made to preserve this photograph. He lived to see it published in the book. Good genealogy manners requires citing this website page as your source of this photo and not just uploading it to your own tree and re-publishing it somewhere else. That way, people will be able to read about my Great Uncle Don and know the source of this photograph.
