Herman Stevens Akin, Jr. November 22, 1920- June 15, 2006 COLUMBUS, GA— Herman Stevens Akin, Jr., 85, of Columbus, died Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the home of his son in Medford, Oregon. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Parkhill Cemetery, with Reverend Ken Pew officiating, according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. Born November 22, 1920, in Howard, Taylor County, GA, Herman was the son of the late Herman Stevens Akin, Sr., and Marion Story Akin. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Stone Mountain, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Favors Akin, who passed away October 28, 2005. Survivors include his son, Joel Akin and his wife Dianne of Medford, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
