"died Grapevine, Owsley Co., KY .Census: 1850 Age 40, Elizabeth & seven children •Occupation: 1850 Farmer •PROP: 1850 Worth $100 •Colson Duff & wife Elizabeth (Gilbert) owned a large tract of land on Grapevine Creek, North Fk. KY River, Perry Co., Ky. - 1,500 acres. During the Civil War, a group of men came by his home & robbed him. He escaped to Owsley Co., Ky., built a farmstead, & lived there until his death."

Colson Duff was born 9 Jul. 1814 in Clay Co., Ky. He was the first of Rev. Daniel Duff's children to be born in KY - they lived in the part of Clay that became Perry.
None of Daniel Duff's children were born in NC & only John A was b. in Tenn.
Colson's birth information comes from his bible. The family was living in Ky. for 2 to 3 years in 1814.
