Graduated from Syracuse University and briefly worked as a high school principal before attending the Divinity School of Philadelphia. He preached at several churches before settling in at St. Michaels and All Angels in Seaford, Long Island, NY. He did missionary work in Cuba first, but came back to the US shortly before his daughter was born. She (my grandmother Gertrude) would claim for her entire life that she was "almost Cuban". :)

While captain of the track team at Syracuse, Harry once got to compete against Jim Thorpe.
