Mary Ethel Towery Willis, 97, of Parker Road, Casar, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Brookdale in Shelby.

She was born in Cleveland County on September 3, 1918 to the late Ernest Towery and Etta Spake Towery. She was retired from Hickory Manufacturing Company, and was a member of Knob Creek United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parent she is preceded in death by her husband Ira Alexander Willis.

She is survived by two sons, George A. Willis and wife, Margaret of Belwood and Jimmy L. Willis and fiancée, Ann Turner of Lawndale; daughter Eunice Carpenter of Cherryville; and nine grandchildren, David Carpenter, Darrell Willis, Wendell Willis and wife, Twanda, James A. Willis and wife, Jackie, Tony Willis and wife, Jamie, Leslie Melton and husband, Don, Emily Sisk and husband, Don, Alan Willis and Brian Willis and wife, Sara; thirteen great grandchildren, James Carpenter, Wayne Carpenter, Kristy Willis, Darrell Willis II, Joshua Willis, Amanda McLeymore, Jack Willis, Gus Willis, Summie Willis, Annie Willis, Eli Melton, Caitlin Melton, Emily Melton; two step great-grandchildren, Clint Melton and Brandon Sisk; one great great grandson, Hunter Carpenter.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 4:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Juston Smith officiating.

The burial will follow in the Knob Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
