Benjamin E. Dalquist was born Feb. 26, 1873, at Maynard, Minn. the Dalquist family resided in several communities when Ben was a boy, as his father, Rev. Dalquist, was called to serve churches in a wide area. In 1880, they came to Alexandria where Rev. Dalquist was the first Baptist minister in the area and Ben attended public schools. In 1886, they moved to Forest City, Iowa, where he attended high school. He later took a business course at Dixon, Ill., and taught in several rural schools in the Forest City area for a number of years. He then went into banking work, starting in Forest City and later in Fertile, Minn., with his brother, M. T. Dalquist, this leading to a transfer to an Ada bank.
On Sept. 25, 1911, he was united in marriage to Anne Stoppel and after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Dalquist resided at Thief River Falls, Minn., where Mr. Dalquist was associated in the banking business. In 1919, he retired from active business and after making a number of winter trips to southern places, they purchased their present home in Three Havens on Lake LeHomme Dieu where they have made their residence for the past 28 years.
Mr. Dalquist passed away Feb. 14, 1959, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 18 days. Surviving are his wife, Annie, one brother, M. T. Dalquist; two sisters: Marie Dalquist of Topeka, Kansas, and (Lillian) Mrs. Albin Holmer of Topeka, Kansas.
