"Rev. John Luther Kistler, son of David and Susanna (Rice) Kistler, was born at Ickesburg, Pa., September 25, 1849. He attended the public schools and graduated from Gettysburg College in 1872. He taught at Susquehanna University in 1874-1875.. He then went to Hartwick Seminary, Otsego Co., N.Y. in 1876, where he was professor of Greek and Mathematics, resigning in 1920.
