As a high school student, he worked in a cabinet shop that I was a secretary at. He then worked for a company in Lowndes County, Ga. that cleaned the inside of tankers for rail service. They were required to wear all the equipment to work inside of these tank cars. There was an explosion and Kevin's co-workers suit caught fire. Kevin could have gotten out but he chose to help his co-worker and in doing so he received life threatening injuries himself.
Kevin had severe burns and went through countless surgeries. His co-worker did not survive but somehow he did. He spent the next 27 years of his life having surgeries. His lungs had severe damage from the scar tissue of the accident.
He bought some land and a house and he loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving and caring young man.
He married and had two step daughters.
He is survived by them and his parents and a brother.
He entered the hospital with the flu and high fever on Friday. He developed breathing problems and was on the ventilator. He went into cardiac arrest on Sunday March 13, 2016.
Kevin will be remembered for his bravery when the accident happened even though the other young man did not make it. Kevin was a hero. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
