Born in Jersey City, he resided there before moving to the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township in 1972. Mr. Carola was employed as Plant Manager with Colonial Concrete Company in Newark for 40 years until his retirement in 2002. In retirement he worked part time in the produce department at Wegman's Supermarket in Woodbridge for several years. He was a communicant of Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Avenel; was an all county basketball player at Fairleigh-Dickinson High School in Jersey City where his lean, lanky frame earned him the nickname "The Stork" and was offered a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Southern Illinois. He also belonged to the Woodbridge Senior Billiards Club and Woodbridge Community Center and was an avid fan of the NY Mets and NY Giants. He was a loving father and doting grandfather who enjoyed gourmet cooking, trips to the casino, playing cards, pool and spending time with his loved ones and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Marie Tarantino Carola, on March 12, 2014; his parents, Christina Farese Carola Scerbo and her husband, Anthony, and Charles Carmen Carola.
