James John "Johnnie" Shute was born about 1902 in Tennessee, the son of Thomas "Tom" Shute (ca 1873-1941) and his wife Luella (Keeling) Shute (1873-1941).
He was married to Ruby Harris (1901–1960), the daughter of Lee Harris and Jennie (Grooms) Harris.
A laborer living on Elm Hill Road, Johnnie was 35 years old and married when he died at home on January 3, 1938 of lobar pneumonia. Burial was three days later in Greenwood Cemetery.
