Sylvester "Sonny" Visga, age 66, of Port Huron, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2006 after a fight with cancer, in his home.

He was born February 3, 1940 in Port Huron, son of the late Edward and Dorothy Visga, and was a life long area resident.

He married Janet Hux on February 10, 1958 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on September 21, 1995.

He was a loving father and loved all of his grandchildren. He retired from Blue Water Area Transit in November of 2000 after 24 years of driving. He loved his classic cars and going to car shows.

He is survived by his six children, daughters, Carrie (Walt) Goeman of Florida, Dorothy (Kurt) Schultz of East China; sons, Eugene (Alicia), Bryon (Patty), Sylvester Jr. (Valentina) and Mark (Tammy), all of Port Huron; a sister, Sis Woodard; a brother, John (Nancy) Visga, both of Port Huron; 15 grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave. at 17th St. The Rev. Dennis Aho of Lighthouse Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Alan Jowett, Debbie Woodard, Josh Provost, Luke Provost, Trinity Provost and Duane Decker.

Memorial tributes may be made to Blue Water Hospice or the wishes of the family
