JOHN ALWARD, son of Henry. Since printing the Alward data the full record of this man's family, worked into a sampler by his widow Priscilla, has been found, and this confirms the opinion expressed our page 8 of Vol. 20, that it was he who moved to Pennsylvania. A photograph of this sampler, owned by the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania, shows that John Alward was b. Feb. 20, 1747, and d. Mar. 10, 1806; md. Feb. 14, 1769 to Priscilla Taylor, b. Dec. 3, 1748. As she expressed it, "Monmouth is my native Place, and English is my nation."
She was the dau. of Joseph and Ann (Hankinson) Taylor.
John Alward bought land on Muncy Creek, Northumberland Co., Pa., in Nov., I771. He lived in Penna. for most of the rest of his life, although his youngest son was bapt. in Freehold, N. J. (GSPM-Gen:Me935,1007; North. Co. Deeds,
