He was a foreman roller in the Bar Mill at Inland Steel from about 1907 to right before WWII, then called out of retirement during the War for several years. His shift (night) broke the Bar Mill records for production several times, and it was said that his colleagues recruited employees he had trained to the morning and afternoon shifts. He died in the hospital in 1955 after being in a car accident.
