Virginia was born on April 3, 1923 in Centralia, the daughter of Silias and Jessie Hanes Howard.
Virginia was a graduate of Feitshans High School. She married Newton C. Coy in 1946. She retired from the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture in 1991.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Newton; infant daughter, Jacqueline Coy; son, Ted C. Coy; brother, Kelly Howard; and sister, Margaret Holzaepfel.
She is survived by daughters, Linda Gabriel of Springfield and Carolyn (Brian) Kenney of Linn Creek, MO; daughter-in-law, Margaret Coy of Ozark, MO; special cousin, Glenadean Garrison of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
