He married Margaret Thorn Van Wyck, daughter of Cornelius Van Wyck and Hannah Thorne. Margaret was reared in the famous Van Wyck Homestead (Wharton House) at Fishkill Village, which was immortalized in James Fenimore cooper's novel, "The Spy".
